Europodium showcases the X-GLOO at the international tradeshow of the event branch in Frankfurt

Marquartstein, 13. April 2013 – Europodium, the French X-GLOO distributor, was a recent exhibitor at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt from April 10 – 13, 2013. In the outdoor area, Europodium displayed the inflatable X-GLOO Event Tent in the 6×6 meter module: Equipped with a canopy and including banner, the X-GLOO lightweight tent is a trendy eyecatcher available in sizes 4mx4m, 5mx5m, 6mx6m and 8mx8m. The extensive branding options of the X-GLOO quickly transform the chic igloo-like tent into an attractive marketing tool.

„The X-GLOO simply had to appear at the leading tradeshow worldwide for event technology and services“, said Yann Kreye, Project Director of Europodium. „We are proud to present the tent system here and look forward to winning over even more clients with the perfect functionality and unusual design of this premium tent“.

Thanks to the robust materials, the X-GLOO is the perfect allrounder for any event, indoors or outdoors. The X-GLOO is waterproof, UV-resistant and fulfills the B1/CPAI-84-fire protection norm. Additional plus points of the X-GLOO – the simple setup and light weight. Easily transported by trolley or transport bag, it can be set up in a flash and stands securely on any surface.

By combining multiple X-GLOOs – also of different sizes – event organisers can create a „tent city“ of any size. „This is a terrific option, above all for large events“, according to Everhard Uphoff, Director of Marketing and Sales X-GLOO Germany. „The tents can be connected to one another by zipper, quickly and easily.“

In addition, the X-GLOO tent can be equipped with different side wall elements: Clients can choose between completely closed walls, walls with window or door or even a half wall, and the tent interior has multiple clips for the attachment of an inner partitioning wall.

The X-GLOO product range becomes complete with the X-Relax seating, in the same material and construction as the tent system. The X-Relax is also available in all colors and branding options.

The French tool manufacturer Diager relies on X-GLOO

Marquartstein, March 26, 2013 – Skywalk continues on a successful course in France. Easytent, French X-GLOO distributor, builds on its customer base: the tool manufacturer Diager chose the inflatable X-GLOO Event Tent for the second time! Diager depends on the advantages of the X-GLOO tent system for its marketing- and expo events: a snap to transport and with rapid setup, the trendy X-GLOO is perfectly suited for use indoors and outdoors!

Thanks to robust materials and clever stabilisation system, the X-GLOO is a friend of any weather conditions: anchored easily with the water ballast, the chic allrounder is stable up to 60km/h winds on asphalt or snow. Tent pegs are available for anchoring to sandy surfaces. In addition, this premium tent is waterproof, UV-resistant and fulfills the B1/CPAI-84 fire protection norm.

„Diager is impressed by the flexibility and great branding options of our X-GLOO“ according to Fabien Solignac of Easytent. „As in 2012, Diager chose three 4×4 meter X-GLOOs in the corporate colors of black and yellow, so that the client can combine the new tents with the other X-GLOOs! The personalisation of the X-GLOOs also played a large role: the roof and tubes have been branded with the company logo. This immediately transforms the igloo-like tent into a media-effective marketing tool!“

The X-GLOO is easily expanded by adding elements per zipper, thereby making it possible to build an entire „tent city“ if you wish. „This is an especially good option for large events“, says Everhard Uphoff, Director of Marketing and Sales for X-GLOO Germany. „The tunnel elements even make it possible to combine different sizes of the X-GLOO.“

The X-GLOO lightweight tent is available in sizes 4×4, 5×5, 6×6 and 8×8. Skywalk additionally offers trendy accessories like printable canopies or the X-Relax seating within the X-GLOO division.

Christin Kirst dominated to win the Women’s XC category of the German Championships on her CAYENNE4 and Oliver Teubert, also on his C4, took the win in the Sport Class of the German Championship with a record score!

Some additional results deserve recognition as well, with Hans Walcher and Achim Warbruck taking the 6th and 7th spots and Jo Blum just missing the top ten.

At this time we would like to thank all the pilots who were underway with skywalk paragliders in 2012. The skywalk crew is really proud of you!

I was totally motivated for the season, scheduled my regular appointments only for rainy days and was mulling over which wing to fly for the season.
I had flown the Astral 7 a few times and when at last a good flying day was predicted for the 08.05, I arranged to pick up the CAYENNE4 from skywalk for testing.
I was most likely so excited about testing the wing that I started confidently in the shade and found myself on the ground 10 minutes later – and this on a day where 200km triangles were flown from the Hochfelln! But by the third flight the C4 and I had become fast friends and I arrived in Pinzgau faster than ever before.

Unfortunately it got black quickly and the Germany flight ended up being a rather moderate free distance of 110 km. Safety first, I thought, although others apparently saw light at the end of Pinzgau and simply flew on under the black clouds – but not me. Then suddenly there was no more suitable xc weather and I busied myself with preparations for the Cross Alps. That I won was surely due to the wing, since the glide was almost double that of the other pilots who also started on the Salve (Michi Schneider, also flying the C4, made the same distance as I did)…

Ok, at last we had the possibility of better weather conditions and we were able to fly a bit on the south side of the Alps – always checking the weather to get a good day in the Pustertal. The 18th of August looked good, so that meant breakfast at 7 and departure from the Grente- – 700 vertical meters with all of my xc equipment. With a 20 km/h tailwind, but some nice company (1st place Performance Class and 2nd, 4th and 6th place Sport Class), we sat around all afternoon and then flew down. But we were still not the only ones to hoping for a great flight.

So, the whole thing was repeated again on Sunday: a wake-up call at 7…my final day of vacation, maybe I could make a nice triangle once the north wind eased up. There ended up being no north wind at all, but also barely any thermals, so that I could not even manage to gain altitude once over the ridge until the Staller Sattel. So a change of direction and on in the direction of Sterzing, reaching Sterzing early (logically, since I turned around early), and I flew on with Torsten Hahne at almost 4000m to the crossing to Lüsen.

There I was able to sail into the Dolomites past breathtaking rock formations on the Kreuzkofel (the rocks seem to look like human faces) to the Falzarego Pass and then home to the Antholz Valley. Torsten had made our mouths water in the morning „tomorrow’s going to be the best day of the year – no wind and base at 4300m“. Frustratingly, I could only reach my bosses‘ mailbox and after our landing beer I was about to get into the car to go home- while the others were staying on til Monday. Then I got the call from by boss- yes! I could have the day off. Score!

The discussion about flying a personal best had been going on for days with our guest from New Zealand. That would be over 171 km… Today we would decide on Speikboden, and over a cup of cappucino I listened to an explanation by Torsten and Didi of the exact turning point for a large triangle. I met up with Jo Blum at the start and he supported me with my plan for a large triangle ‚Project 180‘. His commentary: „But 180 is pretty long for the time of year“
Yes, but what a dream of a day, no wind, and the whole thing would be a pleasure at such a high base. Everything was running like clockwork and even the Lüsen was producing some nice thermals for me. Storms were building in the Dolomites, so I had to turn in the direction of Ahrntal. There I met up with Achim Warbruck and Jo Blum again and together we flew on towards the Großvenediger. At 7 in the evening I could see all the way to Chiemgau and the glacier was simply breathtaking.

All of the sudden I got really tired and the way back through Ahrntal to Sand turned into a sink fest of 8m and rough thermals over the middle of the valley, but whatever, I just wanted to land. In retrospect, if I had still flown over the start it would have actually been a FAI world record, but it was my best personal performance and I arrived at home at midnight, tired and happy. Thanks to my boss for the day off!

Was it difficult this year to get first place?

It was difficult to remain in first place. Even though I had a good cushion with the

FAI of 250km, I was still not sure if it would be enough in the end. My Germany flight was weak at 188 km and then I missed an absolute hammer day in Southern Tirol at the end of July, since I had decided on the wrong flying site in Wallis.

Were you able to implement all of your planned tasks?

Not all, but some. Years ago I had prepared plans to enlarge the Grente-triangle towards the Großglockner. I then had the opportunity on the tenth of May, but it quickly became clear that all the top pilots were considering the same option. There are still some variations that I would like to fly, but I have so little time right now that I do not want to waste it with risky xc tours.

How was the CAYENNE4 able to help you reach your goals?

The Cayenne4 was the optimal wing for me. Excellent climb, a fatigue-free and efficient speed system and the good-natured performance was a plus for my low hours of training.

How do you manage to dig up performances like yours with so little time to fly?

Luckily, the experiences I have had in my earlier flights stay with me. And I am still learning. There is no flight that is really without mistakes, but I at least try not to make the same mistake twice. This requires a concentrated evaluation of every xc-flight. So my learning curve is still going up. The decisive principle of if/then scenarios has to be internalized so that these can be quickly called upon in the most different of situations. The more mental capacity that is available to you, the easier it is to put it into practice. That is why a good-natured wing is becoming even more important for me, since then I need less concentration for the actual flying. The CAYENNE4 was the optimal wing for me this year. It centers practically automatically and needs no corrections when accelerated.

A 10-hour flight is mentally and also physically very tiring. How do you stay fit?

Endurance is really important for me. I start preparing way before the season starts with endurance training. In order to waste as little time as possible this year, I had a performance diagnose done and had a training plan prepared for me. The better the basis endurance, the easier it is to recover from a strenuous climb or also when flying the calm gliding distances.

Where do you get your weather info?

From as many different souces as possible. First from DHV-Wetter, ground pressure maps and sailplane weather. Short notice I get from Alptherm, DWD-Top-Task, ARL-Temps and ARL-Windgram. I compare all this information with the values I have collected from my experience. Right before start everyone is all over their cell phones checking out weather developments, discussing the info within the skywalk Team and also with pilot friends. Often we have to make our decisions before the weather gurus have their predictions ready, since we have to arrive sometime. When in doubt, I go flying, since only when you fly can you get something out of it when the weather developments end up being better than predicted.

The new certification attests to the comprehensive quality orientation of Skywalk with regard to entrepreneurial thinking and practice.

The independent certification center SGS confirms that Skywalk, manufacturer of paragliders, surfkites and event tents, has fulfilled the ISO 9001 norms for an excellent quality management system.

„Our top priority at Skywalk is maintaining customer satisfaction and a consistent level of trust in our products“, says Manfred Kistler, CEO of product development at Skywalk. „With paragliders and surfkites, we are selling products that require the highest possible quality standards. Quality remains at the forefront with regard to our X-GLOO tent system as well: our event tents can be used in- and outdoors and therefore have to stand up to the widest variety of weather conditions imaginable! Thus, quality assurance defines a crucial part of our principles and is an integral part of all of our business processes!“

In order to communicate this outwards, the company executive board decided to introduce a comprehensive and multi-stage quality management system in 2011. The ISO 9001 certification for all three business sectors was initiated at Skywalk’s own wish and is the expression of a singular focus on quality. Enormous company growth from 28 employees in 2008 to over 40 in 2012, along with a rapid rise in sales inevitably led to a restructuring of the existing management- and process structures.

„A successful and comprehensive quality management system was the logical consequence of this new re-organisation“, according to Thomas Allertseder, CFO at Skywalk. Thanks to a highly functional organisational structure, the norm requirements were quickly implemented with regard to the management system as well as customer- and process orientation and the certification audit was successfully closed by the middle of 2012: Skywalk proved that the required conformities, specifications and parameters are clearly stipulated and their compliance will be examined at regular intervals. Moreover, the existing evaluation process of the management system has proved to be well-suited for guaranteeing the continual improvement of the processes.

The open and constructive company atmosphere stood out during the auditing process. A young, dynamic team works hand-in-hand to guarantee the future success of Skywalk: committed athletes and design engineers from the aviation sector develop new and innovative products with materials developed in-house.

With the certified quality management system according to the international standard ISO 9001 not only does Skywalk prove to the public that quality-orientation determines each part of entrepreneurial thinking and practice, but also that quality management is the driving force for internal development and improvement of operational processes, in particular regarding customer satisfaction. Thus, the biannual review of targets is stipulated and the internal documentation process is optimised.

The next auditing process is planned for 2015.

Grassau, Germany 25.09.2012 – Six X-GLOO event tents were in use at this year’s Mountain Biking World Championships in Leogang/Saalfelden: Erich Grossar, the X-GLOO Austria dealer, recently gained a new client with the camera manufacturer GoPro.

The sponsor of the Mountain Biking World Championships was impressed by the chic design and clever functionality of the modular tent system from Germany: „The X-GLOO is a great allrounder, perfectly suited for use in the mountains as well – the low weight makes it simple to transport and easy setup allows for use at any spot along the race course. “We were impressed that a lightweight tent system could stand on such an uneven surface,“ says Markus Stöckl of GoPro Europa Team. „It was simple to set up even on asphalt– we are impressed with the X-GLOO System!“

The innovative material of the X-GLOO is well-suited for outdoor use: The roof is water-repellent and UV-resistant. Designed according to aerodynamic principles, the premium event tent can withstand wind speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Especially on the first two stormy days, the stable event tent turned out to be a big plus for the event organizer, Leogang alpine resort. The new8x8 meter X-GLOO was set up right behind the start house, offering the downhill competitors the optimal protection from the elements before the start.

The X-GLOO was the perfect presentation platform for the advertising image of the action camera manufacturer, branded with the attention-getting GoPro-Logo: „The X-GLOO is a super fit for this active scene. And it is terrific for our promotional purposes thanks to the unlimited branding options“, according to James Clifford, Sports Marketing Event Manager from GoPro. The GoPro X-GLOOs were equipped with canopies, canopy banners and entrance walls. The camera manufacturer chose printing on the roof and canopy banner as well as printing on the inside and outside of the side walls. The white lettering with blue logo has real visual pop on the black background! And voila, the X-GLOO Event Tent becomes the perfect eye-catcher!

The X-GLOO is also available in 4x4m and 5x5m. With tunnel-like connection elements, you can combine as many X-GLOOs of the same or different sizes as you like. The Event Tent is also available with side walls, entrance- or window walls, canopy, canopy banner and lighting.

The X-GLOO is available in the X-Act variation in the colors white, blue, red or black, or in the personalized X-Pert version. „The X-Pert version allows clients to choose from any color in the Pantone color guide “, says Everhard Uphoff, Head of Sales and Marketing at X-GLOO Germany headquarters. Multicolored tents are also possible.

The VFL Wolfsburg is depending on the sporty-trendy X-GLOO tent for its fan club events

Grassau, Germany 31.08.2012 – After professional guidance by the Cologne-based X-GLOO partner LA CONCEPT GmbH, VFL Wolfsburg decided on the purchase of the elegant X-GLOO Tent manufactured by the company Skywalk. The Bundesliga (German National Football League) team was totally impressed by the sporty design of the lightweight tent and will be using the flexible tent system for its numerous fan projects, in order to create large covered event areas.

The Wolfsburg team chose two X-GLOOs in the sizes 4x4m and one 5x5m tent. Together with the Tunnel Elements, the premium tents can be connected to form a completely branded ‘tent street‘, but the tents can be used alone too, of course. The air-filled supporting legs, roof and side walls were designed according to the football club’s color, a striking tone of green. Printed team logos on the side walls and roof attract attention. This is a special feature of the X-GLOO: it can be completely branded with logos or pictures by screen- or digital printing. Sewn application is also an option – making the X-GLOO a perfect brandable marketing tool!

An additional plus point of the X-GLOO Event Tent is the simple handling and low transport weight and dimensions: „With these advantages, we were able to convince the VFL Wolfsburg management to go with the X-GLOO System for their fan events!“ according to Dennis Kirchen of the X-GLOO sales partner LA CONCEPT in Cologne, exclusive provider within the postal codes of 3,4 and 5. „Our clientele is always amazed when we roll out the handy trolley and only 10 minutes later the fully branded tent stands inflated before them“

The X-GLOO is suited for indoor and outdoor use, thanks to UV-resistant and waterproof materials, and can withstand wind speeds of up to 60 km/h. It also fulfills CPAI-84/B1 fire protection norms. The tent system is stable on any surface, whether asphalt, sand or water!

For the igloo-like lightweight tent, there are interesting accessories for each size, 4x4m 4x4m, 5x5m, 6x6m and 8x8m, which can be attached by zipper in a snap: Canopy, Canopy Banner, Lighting solutions, Side Walls with Doors or Window Elements as well as the X-Relax, an elegant seating solution.

The X-GLOO is available in the X-Act variation in the colors white, blue, red or black, or in the personalized X-Pert version.

A timely event – skywalk now presents the TONKA, a 15m² projectile with certification, constructed specifically to meet the demands of the Red Bull Dolomite Man (08.09.2012). Along with a small surface area, (projected only 14,6 m²) and the correspondingly high trim speed, this wing impresses with a sensationally small pack size and excellent launch performance.

No wonder, since the rigid foil and 3-line concept of the skywalk TONKA stems from the ARRIBA2! Also noteworthy, the certified weight range (EN-D) covers a very wide range of pilots at 65-105 kg.

Despite the small surface area, the TONKA is playfully light in the thermals and rewards pilots with very reactive handling. Pilots searching for a very light, small and quick companion for the mountains, with certification, should stop by their nearest skywalk dealer and take a test drive with this new mini wing from skywalk.

Grassau , 01.06.2012 – Skywalk continues to expand internationally: with the 8×8 tent, the modular X-GLOO Tent System has surpassed itself!

Topping out at 4,80 meters, the new event tent is considerably higher than the pr eviously largest 6×6 X-GLOO and impresses with a knock-out visual appearance. The covered area of the new premium tent has now increased to 30m², thereby opening up completely new markets and an undreamed of range of use: mobile marketing actions, unusual marketing campaigns, large-scale roadshows, big events or innovative tradeshow presentations indoors or outdoors!

When it comes to branding, the new 8×8 X-GLOO sets new standards: with this new giant tent, X-GLOO clients have a significantly larger surface for their advertising wishes: the 8×8 Side Walls offer a surface area of 33,54 m² for personalisation, the Roof offers an additional ca. 25 m² printable area and even the air-filled supporting legs have „grown“ somewhat with a diameter of 43 cm. The 8×8 allrounder can be personalised with sewn application or screen printing on the Roof, Side Walls and Tubes (supporting legs), just like its predecessors (4×4, 5×5, 6×6). „With the 8×8 we are introducing another smart marketing- and promotional tent which is sure to generate high attention-getting value for our clients thanks to the multitude of branding options“, says Everhard Uphoff, X-GLOO Head of Sales and Marketing.

The new 8×8 lightweight tent meets the same standards as the existing X-GLOOs in handling and transport: inflated once with air this immense new structure is stable indoors or outdoors. The same premium X-GLOO materials come into use in the 8×8 Tent: all are lightweight yet waterproof, offer high UV-protection and fulfill the CPAI-84/B1 fire protection norm.

„The 8×8 X-GLOO is the logical consequence of our quest to set new benchmarks in quality and innovation“, according to Manfred Kistler, General Manager at Skywalk and inventor of the X-GLOO. „We are happy to offer a new product, the 8×8 tent, in the sleek aerodynamic X-GLOO design. Despite the size, the 8×8 offers all of the winning advantages of the XGLOO system such as stability and durability combined with lightness and functional design!“

The trendy 8×8 X-GLOO is available in the X-Pert Version in all of the colors of the Pantone color book.

Accessories such as the inflatable X-RELAX seating round off the product palette of this premium tent. The X-RELAX is also available in all of the colors of the color book and can be designed exclusively according to the clients corporate design guidelines.
